About Dr. Wei Shi

Dr. Wei Shi is a Professor of Management at the University of Miami Herbert Business School. He holds an MBA from Tulane University and a PhD in Business Administration from Rice University.

Dr. Shi is a leading expert on strategic governance, corporate governance, strategic decision-making, and shareholder engagement. His research examines how boards, executives, and shareholders interact to shape the strategic direction of firms — with a particular focus on how governance structures influence high-stakes decisions and long-term organizational performance.

He teaches courses in strategic management, corporate strategy, strategic governance, and corporate governance, and has coauthored the book Understanding and Managing Strategic Governance. He is currently under contract to write Shareholder Strategy: How to Manage Shareholders for Strategic Success.

Dr. Shi publishes extensively in leading business journals and is a frequent contributor to Harvard Business Review. He is a former board member of the International Corporate Governance Society.
